Talking Therapy...What is it?

  • Talking Therapy , also know as psychotherapy, involves talking to a trained professional about your thoughts, behaviours, feelings, and anything else that may be causing emotional distress, in a confidential and non-judgmental setting. This can help clients identify the thoughts and situations that distress them. By talking about your fears, desires and dreams allows people to explore not only their past and their present but also their future.

  • Integrative Therapy is the integration of elements from different schools of psychotherapy in the treatment of a client, tailored to the client's personal limits and external constraints.

  • Person- Centred Therapy's main goal is to exhibit three essential qualities; genuineness, unconditional positive regard and empathetic understanding. It is based upon the belief that the client is capable of taking responsibility for their own lives.

  • Humanistic Therapy's approach emphasises the importance of being your true self in order to lead the most fulfilling life. It is based on the principle that everyone has their own unique way of looking at the world.

  • Mindfulness based cognitive therapy is an approach that uses cognitive behavioural therapy methods in collaboration with mindfulness mediative practices. It builds upon the principles of cognitive therapy by using techniques such as mindful meditation to teach us to consciously pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judgement being placed on them.
